I don’t know what caused the continuity errors in breed and number of puppies and, even more strangely, scammer’s name, but this email is largely identical to the one on this rather horrific website. Basically it’s important before you read any further that you have no doubt that this man is a scammer.

I know I can care for them better than you because both of my daughters are still alive. I haven't had a Maltese puppy before, but I've had sea monkeys and I assume they're fairly similar. I think there was a little bottle of food you had to give them. I mostly forgot but dogs are bigger so I think I'd remember with dogs. And there are two so they're hardly both going to starve. Hi Mack, I gave your regards to my kids, and they asked who you were. This food sounds complicated. Can puppies eat normal person food? I would imagine so. Presumably in the wild, back in Malt, they ate berries and mammoths or whatever so I would think pork chops should be fine, yes? How are you planning to ship them? I think probably the best thing to do is to put them in bubble wrap and then a fairly tight box so they don't get broken in transit. Should you freeze them? I think you should freeze them. Do puppies freeze well? I expect if I carefully defrost them in a hot bath it should be fine. What are their names? Thanks, Andrew

This all seems reasonable. You should be careful shipping puppies by air because even though they can't open the packets of peanuts, sometimes a stewardess will help them and they're not supposed to eat peanuts. Also they are bad at knowing when to put on the emergency liferafts. Hopefully the plane will not crash and a different plane will crash instead though, one with only mongrels or humans on. I know it sounds a bit racist when you say it this way, but the purebreds really are worth more than the hoi-polloi. Anyway. The thing is that I'm wary of trusting people on the internet, so would it be possible for you to ship the puppies to me now and I will pay you when I receive them? We need a way to both know we can trust each other, so here is what I'm thinking: you poison the puppies and send them to me now. When they arrive, I'll transfer the money into your account, and when you get the money, you send me the antidote. We'll need a slow-acting poison, with a reliable antidote. To honour this, I will make the boy puppy Four Legs. I didn't realise there was a 24 hour delay. That's an entire week in dog years. And there are two dogs, so that's a dog-fortnight. Happy Dog Fortnight! Here is the problem: at the moment it's just me and my wife who hates dogs and carries a large hammer, as my children are away on camp. They'll be home in three weeks, but I think puppies are cutest and most fun when they're young so I was hoping we could freeze the puppies until then so my children can enjoy them at their best. Hi Tim, When I went into Western Union, I handed over the money for the payment and the man there, Clive, gave me a sheet of paper with some numbers on that I was supposed to send to you. Unfortunately since then the sheet has been eaten (or at least heavily damaged) by one of the puppies you sent me — I think it was the girl puppy — so I will be unable to send you the details. I suggest you call Western Union and see if they can help. Let me know if you have any problems and I'll not feed the girl puppy for a week to teach it a lesson. Andrew

For some reason, Four Legs is always the more active puppy.
