Well, the way I see it, asking for blatantly silly things that are easily solvable (for this example, taking the girl to the doctors) is just ridiculous. I mean, that's silly. You don't go to a professor and ask him "Help me with getting BREAKFAST OR SOMETHING!", now do you? The same rule kind of applies here. God helps with emotional stress and difficult descisions, courage, and whatnot even in one case in my family money (that was strange. My dad broke up with me mum, and we had to pay the oil bill. We had no money. Next morning, postie delivers an envelope with the exact amount of cash in it. No sender address. I'm not saying it came from heaven, it could have been someone in the family, even my Dad, but what I'm saying is...who inspired them to do it?).

Where was I? Yeah, things like that, not everday stuff that is easily solved by hardly even tickling the old grey matter.

IMHO, prayer is a way of talking to the Big Man Upstairs.

Well, yes obviously, but to what end?

Do you think he'll help you out if you do -- and do you think that help will be in the form of physical changes to the material world that other people can see? Do you think he won't help you out if you don't? Or is it just for Ultimate Moral Support?

IMHO, prayer is a way of talking to the Big Man Upstairs. As a Christian, that's the way I see it.

FYI, I can't stand the Church of England either.
I also can't stand crazily religeous people. A lot of us Christians can't. They give a bad image.
