For a long time I have suspected that Microsoft like to control people as much as they can. But they used to be subtle. They used to just do it by absuing their monopoly. Now they’ve given up any pretence…

“Depending on your connection speed, this might take a minute. During this time, you may receive one or more security warnings. Review each security warning to ensure that the content is signed by Microsoft, and then click Yes to install the software.”

They’re just telling me what to do now! Then, when that window crashed, it said:

“Microsoft Internet Explorer is not responding. Choose “Switch to…” and try to fix the problem.”

There were three buttons on the bottom of the dialogue box, but it didn’t really matter; I’d already been told which to press…
